Michael H. McGarry is Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of PPG. He became Chairman of the Board in 2016 after transitioning into the CEO role in 2015.

McGarry joined PPG in 1981 as an engineer at the company's Lake Charles, Louisiana chemicals complex. He then progressed through various management assignments. In 2006, he relocated to PPG's European headquarters in Switzerland as Vice President, Coatings, Europe, and Managing Director, PPG Europe. In 2008, McGarry returned to the U.S. as Senior Vice President of the Commodity Chemicals reporting segment and was elected Executive Vice President in 2012 and Chief Operating Officer in 2014 before being named Chief Executive Officer.

McGarry currently serves on the Board of Directors of U.S. Steel Corporation and is Chairman of the Board of The American Coatings Association.

A native of New Orleans, McGarry is a mechanical engineering graduate of the University of Texas and completed the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School.
